The Listening Company don’t listen

I’ve been getting a lot of calls recently from an 0800 number (sometimes withheld). Sometimes 2 or 3 calls a day. The number is: 08003 896 818. If you call it back (please do – it’s free from a landline!), then it says it’s from the listening company and they are a marketing organisation.

Well, my home number is ex. directory and I don’t want to be marketed to. They do give a number to call which they say will thn remove you from their lists, but damn them, I didn’t ask to be on in the first place.

So I’ve programmed a nice little wheeze into my PBX. When they call me, and use that number as caller ID, I place an outgoing call back to them and bridge the calls together. They can then speak to themselves. My phones will never ring again when they call.

  1. You ought to go on Dragon’s Den – your system’s way better than ‘TruCall’. Better yet, over time could you build up a list of similar phone spamming swine and then route incoming calls from one spammer to another?

  2. awesome! makes me want to build an asterisk box just for that purpose! horrendous scumbags!

  3. Phone 0800 0324617 and record your telephone number with them – this will remove you from their list. I too was ex-directory but unfortunately they use random number generation for selection and there’s nothing you can do about it.

  4. Both of you are wrong. They are 3rd party outsourced contact centre. Clients include Sky, O2, MBNA to list a dozen or so. A lot of times it will be cold calling data lists that their clients have supplied and other times it will be an add on service to a product you may already have.

BTW, if any of you own Toyota’s or VW’s and call the customer services team this is the company you actually come through to who again have been outsourced by the cra companies above.

    Cheers.

  5. Hi guys, just to say that Chopperfloyd is right and if you call 0800 0324617 then you can add your number to their ‘DO NOT CALL’ list. I’ve just done it

  6. Do you guys work for them? It certainly seems that way.

Just one thing – I will never call someone to ask them to stop calling me. My home number is ex. directory and registered with the TPS. DO NOT CALL ME. Ever.

I’m also going to not accept any more comments on this from people who leave false email addresses too. If you’re not prepared to say who you are, I’m not prepared to listen.

  7. had a call from these jokers and 8.20pm, there was no one on the line and then they kept my line open for 45mins, got a very poorly reletive in hospital and need the phone free, I am ex directory, on the TPS and NEVER give my number out, always tick NO on all forms. They had an automatic message telling me to call another 0800 number to remove my name, that I never gave out, but that number is always busy!!!!! so much for the listening company, how do they get their customers cos they probably have contacted their company directors and board members at home at some point, really hacked off as already had to change my number before cos of tits like these

Have your say
